Pet parents do all they can to protect their fur babies, and one of those ways is by taking steps to prevent their pets from getting rabies.
Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about rabies prevention and the rabies vaccines.
“The quickest line of defense for rabies is making sure your pets are vaccinated against it, and then keeping track of the vaccine and staying up to date on them,” Lidia said. There are 1-year and 3-year rabies vaccine options, she explained. Lidia also talked about the importance of making sure that the other pets your pets are around are also vaccinated.
Michigan Humane is holding a vaccine clinic this Saturday, September 28th where they will be offering low-cost vaccines and microchips. The vaccine clinic will be held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Palmer Park in Detroit.
Michigan Humane also has multiple pets that need forever homes, including a 7-year-old dog named Hemmingway who was found as a stray. He has been a “sweet and polite gentleman” while in their care, Lidia said.
