Tie dye workshop focuses on making beanies for kids battling cancer

You can channel your creativity to do something special to help give comfort to children who are fighting cancer.

Detroit Dye House is holding a workshop where participants can help tie dye beanies for children during their battle and treatment of the disease.

The event is to honor Bran Tolhurst, a young boy who battled cancer and used to visit Detroit Dye House. Co-owner Alex Chevillet called Bran “one of the most delightful souls” she ever met.

“He kept telling us how much art meant in the healing process and what art meant to him through going through treatment,” Alex said. When Bran passed, they decided to honor him by making beanies for other children facing cancer. This year Detroit Dye House has a goal to create 500 beanies to give to children who are fighting cancer.

The dye workshop will be held Sunday, September 29th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Detroit Dye House, which is located at 1418 Michigan Ave. in Detroit. Watch the video above to learn more about attending the event, including the cost.
