Mental health is something that is important to each and every one of us, and getting help you need to stay mentally healthy is critical. Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) appeared on “Live In The D” to share what you can do to help yourself or someone you know who may be struggling.
Elizabeth Vutci, Director of Community and Behavioral Health Services at MCCMH, says the first thing you should know are the signs that someone is struggling with a mental illness. She said the signs can be different person to person and from adults and children. “Some of the most common ones are, maybe, an increase in sadness, irritability, sense of hopelessness, mood changes, changes in sleep or in appetite. And in children you might see really intense temper tantrums.”
Once you know the signs, Vutci said its important to recognize them and then take the appropriate steps to start the journey to better mental health. MCCMH offers a variety of services, but the first call to make is to 855-99-MCCMH to learn what support may be best for you.
