We all know that in one way or another we impact this plant that we live on and learning what to do to support a better earth is key. That’s the mission behind University of Detroit Mercy’s Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit (GLBD) conference. It happens October 17th and 18th and Theroi Riggins, co-chair of GLBD, and Zigmond Kozicki, committee member of GLBD, appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about the event.
“A bioneer is a biological person, pioneer, who has a passion for caring for their environment,” said Riggins. “The look for solutions that can help improve our environment.”
The bioneer conference is in it’s 19th year. The University of Detroit Mercy has been bringing young people to the campus during that time to learn more about what they can do to change the environment and develop traditional ecological knowledge. There are a variety of exhibitors and presentations that will emphasis that mission.
“I think they’re going to learn a great deal about what their community can accomplish if they work together,” said Kozicki.
