Get your own, unique glass pumpkin decoration for Halloween

Live demonstrations run this weekend and next

It’s time to break out the Halloween and harvest decorations, and of course that means pumpkins. You may get real ones, you may have fake ones, but do you have a handmade glass pumpkin created right here in Metro Detroit? Now you have a chance to get your own creation thanks to the Glass Academy in Dearborn.

Michelle Plucinsky is the owner of the Glass Academy. She joined “Live In The D” host Tati Amare and guest-host Tim Meadows in studio to share about the specialty pumpkins being created at her studio. “It’s our signature pumpkin we do every year,” said Plucinsky. “It takes two people to make them and it takes about 20 minutes and at least 10 years of experience.”

The pumpkins are available at the Glass Pumpkin Harvest Fest happening this weekend and next weekend. They will also have live demonstrations of glass blowing as well.

There is also a charity aspect to the event. For every pumpkin sold, the Glass Academy will donate a portion of proceeds to Rising Kites. “We choose someone different every year. They give kits to people who have babies with Down Syndrome because sometimes that catches you off guard,” said Plucinsky.
