You see it all around Detroit, from Comerica Park to Little Caesars Arena, and it’s not just Detroit sports fans. You’ll also spot tiles from Pewabic Pottery in places around the city and beyond This fall you can get a hands-on experience at the studio in Detroit.
Pewabic Pottery is offering workshops and tours where people can learn more about the pottery that’s created at the national historic landmark. One of the workshop topics teaches participants about glazing tiles.
“Glazes are one of the things that really put Pewabic on the map nationwide historically with our founders. So, we thought it was a great way for people to kind of jump in and make tile like we do,” said Pewabic Pottery Education Director and Archivist Annie Dennis.
