Coats, shoes, clothing for just about everyone, home décor items, and much more. The New Providence Baptist Church annual clothing drive will feature these items, and more, and it‘s all free to the community.
The items are donated to the church, and the church is very particular about what they except. “We take the most marvelous clothes, we take the top of the line,” Darlene Braddy said. She’s been volunteering with the clothing drive since they started it 23 years ago, and says the community deserves the best.
The volunteers work hard to transform the ballroom of the church to resemble a high-end department store, and they give the same service to those attending the drive. “You are treated like you’re going to Macy’s or Nordstrom,” said volunteer Shantelle Johnson.
The clothing and food give-a-way happens Saturday, October 19, from 8 a.m. to Noon at New Providence Baptist Church, 18211 Plymouth Road in Detroit.
