A new restaurant in Oak Park known for its in house coffee roasting is stepping up its pizza game. Mother Handsome is located in the Water Tower Social District and has a reason for it‘s unique name.
”People used to write about her before Woodward was Woodward. When they would travel up the road they would stay at her tavern because she had the best liquor and the best food," Owner Brooke Zadorsky said. She‘s talking about Mother Handsome, who was a tavern owner in the 1800’s, who’s story is all about how she was know for her hospitality.
Zadorsky is creating her own story. She opened Mother Handsome in June of 2024 as a café, serving lattes, cappuccinos, coffee, fresh pastries and more. A month after opening they started a pizzeria, serving a variety of hand tossed round pizzas. They also offer huge pizza slices.
