It‘s a funny operation on ’St. Denis Medical'

One of the stars of the new NBC sitcom shares her excitement ahead of premiere

When you think about medical shows on TV, dramas typically come to mind, but NBC‘s new medical show isn’t about the tears, it’s about the laughs. “St. Denis Medical“ premieres tonight on Local 4 and ahead of the pilot episode ”Live In The D" host Tati Amare spoke with star Wendi McLendon-Covey about what viewers can expect.

“The show is kind of like ‘The Office’ meets hospitals,” said McLendon-Covey. “It’s about this big, beautiful work family in a hospital and, unfortunately, hospitals can be funny places.”

She talked about how it will show a comedic side of how a hospital is just like any other workplace. She says someone may be in labor, but on “St. Denis” they’re also going to show you the person running around collecting money for a birthday cake.

When asked about her character Joyce, McLendon-Covey said, “She is the administrator of this hospital, but this is a safety hospital, they can‘t turn anybody away. So, she‘s fundraising constantly. She’s exhausted, and exhausting.”

Detroit native David Alan Grier also stars in the show. To hear what McLendon-Covey says it’s like to be on set with him, click the video player above.
