It’s a family affair for this Parade Company volunteer

Volunteer for more than 30 years is carrying on American’s Thanksgiving Parade tradition

When you think of America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White, what comes to mind are the clowns, balloons, marching bands, floats, and more, but there are nearly 2000 unsung heroes keeping everything afloat, the volunteers. One volunteer has been doing this a really long time.

“Since 1992,” said Steven Spencer, volunteer with The Parade Company. He said he’s enjoyed every bit of the 32 years, and said his favorite event is America’s Thanksgiving Parade.

He also said the volunteers don’t only work on Thanksgiving. “We give tours of The Parade Company, work Hob Nobble, Fireworks, and other events,” Spencer said.

He’s done just about every job there is with the organizations, and now even has his family marching along side him at the parade. “My family walks with me now,” he said.
