Do you know what your insurance covers?

Expert shares insight on insurance

Whether it’s auto, home, or life insurance, it can be overwhelming to make the right choices when it comes to choosing insurance coverage.

People often don’t realize that they don’t have good insurance until the moment it’s too late, explained Denise Mansfield, the owner of Mansfield Insurance Group.

While appearing on “Live In The D”, Mansfield shared insight on a variety of situations involving insurance.

One scenario Mansfield talked about is what happens when a neighbor’s tree falls on your home. She explained that you would actually be the one to have to file a claim because the tree landed on your property.

Another scenario that Mansfield shared was if water comes up through the floor drains or from the sump pump of your home. She said this situation is not considered floodwater by an insurance company.

“This coverage is a specific coverage on a home policy that has to have an endorsement for you to cover it,” Mansfield said.

Mansfield explained that outside water that comes into a home is what insurance companies consider to be floodwater.
