What to do with holiday recyclables

New Michigan technology assists residents with recycling items the correct way

When it comes to recycling, you may not know exactly what to put in the recyclable bins.

From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, Americans generate 25% more trash than the rest of the year, which makes the need to recycle even greater during the holidays.

Now, new technology that is not being used anywhere else in Michigan, or in the Great Lakes Region will help you recycle with more confidence. General Manager with the Resource Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County, Michael Csapo, stopped by Live in the D, to chat about best practices when it comes to recycling.

“We have these new AI-powered robots from Glacier that help us more efficiently manage these piles of material,” Csapo said.

He also said they need help from residents to know exactly what is recyclable or not.
