Coneys are a staple in the Detroit food scene, but now a husband-and-wife duo are adding a twist on the tradition at their restaurant in Ypsilanti.
Brad and Melanie Lemont are skipping the meat at their restaurant called Plant Based Coneys. They offer plant-based coneys, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and chili. The restaurant also serves fries, tots, and mac and cheese. Any of their menu items can be made in a gluten-free option, explained Brad Lemont.
When it comes to beverages, Plant Based Coneys has seasonal drinks such as a hot chocolate topped with vegan marshmallows and a cranberry lemonade.
Plant Based Coneys is located at 42 E. Cross Street in Depot Town in Ypsilanti.
