These Thanksgiving favorites could be toxic to your pet

Here’s what to avoid sharing during the holiday meal

Pets are a part of the family, but that doesn’t mean they should be included when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner. Gillian Hanton with Michigan Humane stopped by “Live in the D” to give a few tips on keeping your furry companions safe during the holiday.

Hanton says these foods are toxic to pets

  • Grapes/Raising
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Chocolate
  • Xylitol
  • Birch Sugar

Also, never give dogs turkey bones, and foods with high fat content can be dangerous

Hanton suggests giving your pet their favorite safe treat while you enjoy your Thanksgiving meal.

The pet of the week is Lex, a 6-year-old Cane Corso mix who may look intimidating but is a sweetheart. Lex would be suitable in a home that can keep him active, preferably a family with older children.

The Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fees for whoever adopts the pet of the week.
