Lots of holiday happenings this weekend in Metro Detroit

From performances to holiday art, there’s a little bit for everyone

As we inch closer and closer to Christmas Day, and the start of Hanukah, there’s plenty of festive events to get you in the holiday spirit.

First, check out a holiday classic. A performance of the Nutcracker is happening the weekend. The Macomb Ballet Company presents the show. The production runs Friday through Sunday at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts.

Now, on to a holiday performance by a special group of youth. The Detroit Youth Choir is set to perform holiday hits at a show in Plymouth. The choir, known for coming in 2nd place on Americans Got Talent, will not only bring on the sounds of the season, but sprinkle in some of their famous dance moves. The performance is happening on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the St. John’s Resort.

Sticking with the holiday theme, there’s an event for a very special group of kids. The North Pole Stroll caters to families affected by special needs. The event will feature a holiday dinner, crafts, pictures with Santa and more, and is geared toward children with physical and mental disabilities, and those with cognitive delays, to experience Christmas their way. The fun is happening Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Play Place Autism and Special Needs Center at 42301 Mound Road in Sterling Heights.

Noel Night also happens on Saturday. The highly anticipated event is celebrating 50 years of live entertainment, music, family activities, and bringing communities together.
