Award-winning gospel singer brings popular movie to the Detroit stage

Kierra Sheard is talked about bringing ‘The Preacher’s Wife' to life

A beloved holiday classic is taking center stage in Detroit. “The Preacher’s Wife” will come to life in a new stage play. The movie originally starred Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston, and now is coming to life on stage thanks to Award-winning Gospel singer Kierra Clark Sheard. Sheard is the creative director of the play and appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about the show.

When it comes to the movie versus the play, Sheard says they kind of mix it. “The only difference that we have here is that the angel is not hitting on the preacher’s wife.” She says they twisted it a bit, but the angel still gives counseling and guidance.

Sheard says she hopes that people will be encouraged by the play and know that everything will be okay, even if they are facing difficult times.
