Keep your pets safe on New Year’s Eve

Michigan Humane shares advice for pet parents

New Year’s Eve parties will be in full swing tonight, and while it’s fun for pet parents, it’s probably not as fun for our furry friends.

Gillian Hanton with Michigan Humane shared some ways to keep your pets safe during the celebrations. She stressed making sure that pets have a safe and quiet place to lie down during gatherings. Gillian also encourages you to make sure your pet has a comfort item with them, like a blanket or toy. If you’re traveling, she recommends having a copy of your pet’s medical records with you and making sure that your pet’s microchip is up-to-date. Gillian mentioned keeping an eye on doors and windows during gatherings to make sure that your pet doesn’t escape from your home.

Michigan Humane also has a variety of animals that are searching for their forever home. One of the pets up for adoption is a Pitbull American Terrier mix named Montgomery. Gillian described Montgomery as being about two months old. She called him very calm and said he likes to lie on your lap and be held.
