If you love to dance to the song “Dancing Queen”, or sing along to the song “Mama Mia”, you may want to make your way to Royal Oak this weekend. On Saturday, “Mania: The ABBA Tribute” will take the stage at the Royal Oak Music Theater. Ahead of the show, Melissa Harding, who plays Frida in the musical revue.
“It’s really a recreation of a live ABBA concert,” said Harding. “So, if you’ve never gotten to see ABBA in concert, it really feels like you’re going back in time. You’re getting to see the band play those arrangements you know and love.”
The show tours the country getting people on their feet because of the countless hits from the group. Harding says the audience is one of the best parts of the show.
“When we have gotten through two hours of this music, it actually still blows my mind, just the volume singing that comes from the audience,” said Harding. “What’s so incredible for us too, in the band, is the variety of ages in the audience. You know, we got women who are sometimes saying to us, ‘It’s my 88th birthday', and then we’ve got 9-year-olds in the front row.”
Harding also shared how she became involved in the show and why it’s something for everyone, even if you aren’t an ABBA fan.
“Mania: The ABBA Tribute” will be at the Music Hall Saturday night. The show is presented by Hollywood Casino at Greektown.
