You’ve seen her in a variety of roles from being part of the Flossy Posse in “Girls Trip” to playing a clairvoyant in “Haunted Mansion”, and now Emmy and Grammy award winner Tiffany Haddish is in Detroit ready to crack jokes.
Haddish is set to take the stage at the Detroit House of Comedy on Thursday, March 6th. Detroit is just one of the stops on her “Funny and Fearless” tour. The tour is described as “new jokes, new looks, and a brand new attitude.”
In addition to being in Detroit to perform a comedy show, Haddish is also working on a movie that’s being shot in Detroit. The project is a horror-comedy called “Haunted Heist”, which is being directed by Lil Rel Howery. Haddish said she’s having fun as she works with friends on this project.
Over the years, Haddish has worked with everyone from Mike Epps to Joe Koy to Martin Lawrence, and beyond. She mentioned that working with Kevin Hart is “always a hoot”, and that Melissa McCarthy had her laughing on set even when they were working on a drama.
The star’s passion goes beyond comedy and acting, and philanthropy is also a huge part of her life. That includes a special focus on helping to rebuild her hometown of Los Angeles following the wildfires.
“I’m here to be of service. I feel like I was put on this planet to bring joy, and especially in times of hardships, I try my best to bring something that can bring some peace,” Haddish said.
Haddish shared that she’s been doing comedy shows to raise money to help with the recovery in Los Angeles. She also mentioned that she’s been going to Altadena to help kids in the foster care system who were impacted by the fire by providing them with suitcases. The actress and comedian has a personal experience with being part of foster care herself as a child.
“Getting moved around from house to house and all my things being in trash bags gave me the mentality that I was trash,” Haddish said. “I’ll never forget the day someone gave me a suitcase and it made me feel like a person, like I was a traveler, like I’m on an adventure, I’m a visitor at these people’s homes as opposed to being garbage getting moved around, and it gave me a sense of confidence.”
Haddish has used her life experiences as fuel for her She Ready Foundation, which focuses on empowering youth in the foster care system.
