It may be home opener weekend for the Detroit Tigers, but there are plenty of other events across metro Detroit to keep you busy.
If you want to stick with the baseball theme, there will be a free Opening Day tailgate party at Detroit’s Grand Circus Park. There will be a DJ playing music, plus food trucks and drinks. Fans can watch the Tigers game on giant video walls and screens. The party starts Friday April 4th at 9 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
If you’re a car enthusiast – and love a cup of Joe – Pontiac is the place to be. It’s a return of the Coffee and Cars event. This year’s new additions include a speaker series called “Off The Grid” as well as a new kids’ fun zone and slot car tracks. It’ll be held at the M1 Concourse Saturday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Get your fill of tzatziki and baklava at the 23rd annual Greek Independence Day Parade in Greektown. Check out the floats, music, performers, food and more. The parade kicks off Sunday April 6th at 3 p.m. at the southeast corner of Hollywood Casino at Greektown.
Halloween may be months away, but you can still get into the spooky spirit this weekend. Eloise Asylum in Westland is hosting a paranormal lockdown. Guest can explore and investigate the asylum overnight. The lockdown starts Saturday April 5th at 7 p.m. and runs until 7 a.m. the next morning. The price is $150 for regular tickets, or $200 for the VIP tickets. Both types of tickets include dinner and snacks.
Lastly, something for all the art lovers. Head over to Ferndale Saturday April 5th for the Peninsular Printmaker Fair. Check out artist-made original prints and hand-printed textiles. It starts at noon and runs until 8 p.m. at Urban Rest Brewery.
