The warmer weather may have you wanting to get out and take in some sights. There’s plenty to do this weekend in and around Detroit.
First up, get ready to shop while supporting small businesses. The “Simply Unique Spring Market” will feature more than 100 small businesses under one roof. The event will have one-of-a-kind handmade items. There will also be giveaways for the first 100 people. It’s happening Saturday 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Macomb Sports and Expo Center in Warren.
Another spring artisan event is happening - this one in Canton. The “Art in Bloom” annual spring artisan market will showcase resident studio artists of the Village Arts Factory. Other local artisan vendors will be on hand with unique items from crafts, fine arts, ceramics and more. The market will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Village Arts Factory.
As we continue to celebrate Earth Week, a major clean-up event is happening at Eliza Howell Park. Volunteers of all ages will help beautify the area by removing litter and providing light landscaping and trail maintenance. The cleanup happens Saturday, 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Detroit.
Follow the yellow brick road to Clinton Township for a performance of the “Wizard of Oz.” The Macomb County Ballet Company presents the classic story, and will feature all of the beloved characters - Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion - in vibrant costumes and cool choreography. Performances will take place Friday through Sunday with a 10 a m. sensory friendly performance Friday, at the Macomb Center for Performing Arts.
On to another performance. This one is creepy and kooky. The beloved family known for their wackiness will bring laughs as Gomez is forced to keep a secret from Morticia, something only he and Wednesday are aware of. The Addams Family musical production runs now through Sunday at the Fox Theatre.
