Perks of walking your dog

Walks are good for both furry friends and their humans

GROSSE POINTE SHORES, Mich. – Taking the dog for a walk might get their tail wagging, but it has more benefits than just making your furry friend happy.

Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane appeared on “Live In The D” to share some perks for both dogs and dog moms and dads.

Lidia highlighted that walking your dog can lower blood pressure, get you out of the house, and strengthen your bond with your dog.

Dogs and pet parents can put their feet to the pavement during the annual Mutt March at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores. In addition to the walk, the event will also include a costume contest and food trucks.

If you’re looking to add a furry friend to the family, watch the video above to meet an adorable dog named Candy, who is around 3 years old.

Lidia explained that Candy was hit by a car and has a fractured femur. Candy is currently healing, so Michigan Humane is looking for a foster family that can eventually adopt her.
