At Local 4, the "Go 4 It" campaign highlights people, businesses, and organizations doing good and helping others in the community. “Passenger Recovery,” in Hamtramck is working to help artists overcome substance abuse, using creative methods.
“I almost couldn’t escape it, but at the same time, it’s welcome in that culture,” said Chris Tait, Director for Passenger Recovery.
A musician for 25 years, Tait said he battled with drugs and alcohol. Since being in recovery for over a decade, he’s been devoted to helping other artists with their recovery efforts.
“It started with me helping touring artists find recovery help while they were in town,” Tait said.
That turning into a brick-and-mortar, where therapy sessions are held. The sessions are unique, using artistic ways to help those in recovery, like art, writing, and music.
