FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – School is almost out, and that means summer is just around the corner.
If you’re looking for some family-friendly events and activities, the city of Farmington Hills has plenty to offer.
One of the first seasonal events coming up is the “Art on the Grand,” which takes place in downtown Farmington. “Every year we close the streets and have over 150 artists, there are over 100 booths,” said Karla Aren with the City of Farmington Hills Special Services Department.
Aren said the event is not too big, and they have great quality art and artists.
The event takes place, Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Grand River Avenue from Grove Street to Farmington Road.
On June 12, the city will have its official “Kickoff 2 Summer” at the Hawk event.
“It gives the community the opportunity to see what the city of Farmington Hills has to offer at the Hawk Community Center,” said Sam Koeppe with the city of Farmington Hills Special Services Department.
He said there will be swimming, outdoor movies, and this will also kick off their summer outdoor concert series.
In addition to the family fun events, the city will offer summer camps for kids. “We already have 5000 kids enrolled, but still have slots open,” Koeppe said. He said they have sports, music, dance, performing arts, nature, and even skateboarding camps.
