‘American Ninja Warrior’ brings new season of action

Season 17 of the show starts June 2nd

Strength, determination, and a whole lot of grit. It’s what you see when contestants compete on “American Ninja Warrior”, and a brand new season is on the way.

Season 17 of the show will have competitors going head-to-head while trying to conquer challenging obstacle courses.

“This was the greatest year we’ve ever had,” said “American Ninja Warrior” host Matt Iseman said.

“I feel like the Motor City would appreciate a little American horsepower on display, and seeing these athletes go head-to-head. 15-year-olds against 70-year-olds, men, women, all different kinds of athletes, different sizes. The matchups were incredible. The results - we never knew what was going to happen,” Iseman said.

Aside from the competition on the obstacle course, the show will also highlight the inspiring stories of the competitors, including amputee Gary Weiland.

“The City of Detroit - you guys are so used to everyone going ‘Jared Goff.’ I think we’re going to get everyone going ‘Gary Weiland’,” said host Akbar Gbajabiamila. “His performance is just that next level of energy that you see for ”American Ninja Warrior”, and I think that is why so many people connect with the show because they can see themselves in Gary Weiland and a lot of these ninjas."
