You may have visited the tigers or penguins at the Detroit Zoo in the past, but adults have a chance to kick off the summer season exploring the zoo in a setting you don’t get to see very often.
Sunset at the Zoo: An Evening Under the Canopy presented by KeyBank offers visitors a chance to experience the zoo at night while sipping on cocktails.
The event will be filled with food, drinks, live music and dancing, raffles, along with silent and live auctions.
Aside from providing a night filled with fun, the event is also raising funds for an important mission. It’s all about impact, explained Randi Hamilton, the chief experience officer of the Detroit Zoological Society.
“This year our focus is on the care and research that goes into the Great Apes, so not only those that live here at the zoo, but also the support that we provide to other programs such as Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and then GRACE, which have been partners with us for a long time. Looking into what’s happening to these species in the wild and these magnificent animals and how we can preserve their life both out and about and what we can learn from them here,” Hamilton said.
Local 4’s own Ashlee Baracy will be the VIP host of Sunset at the Zoo.
The 21 and up event will be held Friday, June 20th from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Click here to get your tickets.
