Summer officially kicks off Friday, and it might have you heading to the dog park more often. It can be a fun adventure for your four-legged friends, but there are some things you always want to keep in mind.
Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane shared what to consider when you take your dog to the dog park.
First, she stressed the importance of making sure your dog is up-to-date on all vaccines.
Lidia also talked about how dog owners should always watch their pets and monitor their behavior. Raised hackles, stiff bodies, and hard staring can be signs of stress.
Other suggestions include always having your dog’s collar on and leash handy, going to the dog park at low-traffic times, and not bringing any food because it could cause conflict between the dogs.
Finally, pet parents should follow proper etiquette by cleaning up after their dogs.
If you’re a fan of cats rather than dogs, Michigan Humane has an adorable cat named Steven who is looking for his forever home. Watch the video above to meet him.
