Powerball jackpot hits $760 million before last drawing of 2023

The Powerball jackpot rose to the sixth largest in U.S. history after no tickets matched the winning numbers drawn Wednesday.

As of Thursday, Dec. 28, the Powerball jackpot was at $760 million, marking the third-largest jackpot this year and the sixth-biggest in the nation’s history, according to Powerball. This jackpot has grown since Oct. 11, when the last Powerball jackpot -- coming in at $1.76 billion -- was won by a player in California. It was the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever won.

The latest jackpot will likely continue to grow leading up to the next drawing on Saturday, Dec. 30 -- the last Powerball drawing of 2023. No player matched the wining Powerball numbers drawn on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Here are the winning Powerball numbers from Wednesday, Dec. 27:

  • White ball numbers: 4, 11, 38, 51, 68
  • Powerball number: 5
  • Multiplier: 3x

About Powerball

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Jackpot winners can choose to receive their prize and an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a one-time lump sum payment. Both advertised prize options are before federal and possible state taxes.

The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.87. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

Sales cut-off times vary by selling jurisdiction. Please check with your local lottery for more information.

In Michigan, Powerball tickets may be purchased until 9:45 p.m. on the day of the drawing at retailers throughout the state. Tickets also may be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com.

When are Powerball drawings?

Each Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
