DETROIT – Three young men were shot near Morang and Harper on the city's east side Friday night.
It happened just before 7 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Duchess and Craft streets.
"Three black males were sitting in a red Pontiac G6 when an unknown black male driving an unknown black vehicle pulled up, got out of the vehicle, walked to their vehicle and started firing shots," said Deputy Chief Renee Hall, of Detroit police.
One man was killed and two others are in critical condition at a local hospital, police said. They were in their late teens and early 20s.
Local and state police were still at the scene hours later investigating and looking for more bullet casings. Police said two weapons were involved.
"It got me kind of tense and I'm still kind of tense because it was so close," said one man who did not want to be identified.
He said all he could think about was his safety.
"First thing I did was grab my dog and hit the ground," he said. "I didn't try to find out where it came it came from or what was going on. Police stormed the area and it was like war, basically."
The shooter is described as a 6 foot tall black male in his mid-20s. He reportedly has a mustache and was wearing dark clothing.
