17-year-old boy dragged from home, beaten in kidnapping on Detroit's west side

Jaylon Wilson abducted by 3 men on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – Detroit police are still searching for a 17-year-old boy who was kidnapped from a home on the city's west side by three men.

UPDATE: 17-year-old boy kidnapped on Detroit's west side found

Jaylon Wilson was abducted around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 7300 block of Westwood Street.

Officers at the 6th Precinct are out looking for Wilson. They believe he is in danger, and Detroit police want to find him before it's too late.

Police received several calls after neighbors witnessed something strange on Westwood Street, off Warren Avenue.

"Homeowners called and indicated they witnessed this happened," Detroit Police Capt. Kenneth Balinski said.

An eyewitness said Wilson was inside a house when, out of nowhere, a silver car pulled up. Three men jumped out of the car and rushed inside. Within seconds, the witnesses said, the men carried Wilson out of the home, kicking and punching him, and threw him into the back seat of the car.

It's unclear what brought Wilson to the neighborhood, but police said they believe he was in danger. When he was thrown into the car, witnesses said, he was screaming for help.

A neighbor on the block said he heard some commotion out front but didn't think much of it The next thing he knew, a silver car reversed down Westwood, and when it got to this intersection, it sped off down Sawyer, and that was the last time anyone saw Jaylon.

"It's basically a decent neighborhood," Balinski said. "You really don't see these things all the time. That's what concerns us. We just want to make sure we try to find him."

Wilson's family isn't speaking publicly, but police said the family is concerned about his safety. Investigators won't say if Wilson was involved in anything illegal.

"At this point, I wouldn't speculate on that," Balinski said. "We don't know why they put him in the car."

Police have a vague description of the three men who snatched Wilson. The black men jumped into an older-model silver Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. A woman was driving the car.

Anyone who sees Wilson should call Detroit police at 313-596-2200.
