Women suspected in credit card theft ring

No description found

EAST CHINA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are searching for three women in connection with the theft of an employee's wallet at the Medilodge rehab facility in East China Township. Police believe the incident might be connected to a credit card theft ring.

A Medilodge employee called police May 5 after she said her wallet was missing from her purse in her office. Surveillance video showed two women walking into the building, wearing hospital scrubs to blend in. One of the women went into the employee's office and walked out shortly afterward.

The women walked around the building briefly before leaving in a early 2000s blue Chevrolet Impala. The car was driven by a third woman.

The employee said she received a text from her husband that they had been contacted by the Huntington Bank Fraud Department regarding a withdrawal. The woman's credit card had been used at the Speedy Q, in East China Township, a Meijer, in Marysville and the Fort Gratiot Target.

Police believe the women might also be involved in other similar thefts at nursing homes in Okemos and Howell.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office at 810-987-1728.
