LIVONIA, Mich. – According to a ranking by the National Motorist Association, Livonia was voted as the U.S. city with the most speed traps.
The NMA says Livonia has 28 speed traps per 100,000 people in the city.

The group determines its ranking by how many people submit so-called speed trap tips.
"We are not going to stop you and ticket you if you're obeying the speed limit," said Livonia Police Sgt. John Gibbs.
Gibbs said he would like to see where the so-called speed traps are in Livonia.
"I would like to challenge the validity of each location being a trap," Gibbs said.
Officers at the Livonia Police Department see the ranking as a public relations positive because the word is out that Livonia has officers on the street and in the neighborhood.
"Residents in Livonia do realize then that we are out here on a continual basis," Gibbs said. "Not only out here for them for traffic safety purposes, which is very important, but also that we are in the community."
