The stations were installed by Macomb Township's Carplug, a division of LaBelle Electric and will allow customers to charge their vehicles in less than half the time compared to using a standard 110/120V electrical outlet. The stations will be self-service and free of charge to patrons.
Customers at the mall will easily be able to pull their car up, plug it in and leave their cars charging while they shop. Complimentary charging stations swipe cards will be available at the customer service center.
Industry forecasts predict that plug-in electric vehicle sales will exceed 350,00 union in the U.S. by 2017. Electric vehicles offer improved fuel economy, lower emissions and strong acceleration with a quiet operation.
