LIVONIA, Mich. – The Livonia Planning Commission is planning a public hearing scheduled for later this month to address a proposal to build a Menards home improvement store in the city.
The proposed site is on the west side of Middlebelt Road between Interstate 96 and the CSX rail line. It is the former site of a Kroger distribution center.

If the city OKs rezoning, construction could begin this spring and the Menards store would open in 2013.
There are currently nine Menards locations in Michigan and none of them are in Metro Detroit.
