ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Roseville police said they continue to work to identify the remains of funeral home customers who were scammed out of their burials from Buehler Funeral home.
Police said Friday they had found families for about 50 of the more than 100 cremations that were found in the home's basement during a raid in February of last year. The funeral home operators have pleaded guilty to taking stealing money from pre-paid funeral packages and leaving the cremations to collect dust.

Funeral home operators charged
Mark and Lisa Buehler have pleaded guilty last month to taking more than $300,000 from dozens of customers who pre-paid for services at their funeral Home. Prosecutors said the couple were spending the money to buy cars, televisions and other electronics.

Some remains to be given military honors
In their efforts to track down owners, Roseville police contacted Linda Smith of the Missing in America Project, a volunteer organization dedicated to ensuring that America's service men and women receive a proper and dignified funeral upon their passing. Smith and her organization were able to determine that three sets of the remains were those of honorably discharged American service men and entitled to a military funeral.
On May 10 at 11 a.m., the Roseville Police Department Honor Guard will transfer these remains to an honor guard contingent from the Viet Nam Veterans of America and the American Indians Veterans Association. Once the transfer takes place, the cremains will be escorted to the Holly National Cemetery where they will be interred with full military honors.
The Detroit area Funeral Industry has arranged for the remaining cremains to be interred at Cadillac Memorial Gardens with a proper service befitting the deceased.
