"This is over a basketball game. Five shots in his back over a basketball game," said Zeidan's mother, Mariam. "He never hurt anybody in his life. He doesn't deserve what he got, where he is right now."

Faraj is set to be sentenced July 13.

Just dismissed charges in February

Judge Carole Youngblood dismissed the charges against Faraj earlier this year when prosecutor Lisa Screen was late to a jury selection hearing because she was involved in a separate homicide case. However, days later, the charges were reinstated and the trial began.
