HOWELL, Mich. – Did you play Classic Lotto 47?
Did you happen to buy a ticket on June 25, 2011? Have you purchased a ticket at Pardiac Shell in Howell?
If you have answered yes to all of those questions, you could be the missing Classic Lotto 47 millionaire.
"It could be me!" said Patti Shire, of Pinckney. "I have some old lotto tickets lying around, you better believe I am going to check them."
A single Classic Lotto 47 ticket worth $1 million is still unclaimed. That ticket was sold by the Pardiac Shell gas station in Howell, at 6000 Pinckney Rd., almost one year ago.
"When I started working here a few months ago, that was the only story I heard about," said Megan Baldwin, who works at the gas station. "There are all kinds of rumors but not too long ago a man came in and told me he bought the winning ticket for his friend's birthday."
Rumor has it the winning ticket started in a birthday card and ended up in the trash. Baldwin said the man had given the ticket to a buddy in Novi. When he saw the winning numbers he called his friend, but his friend's wife had thrown away the ticket and the card.
"Everyone says this is what happened, but I'm still holding out hope someone will become a winner," said Baldwin.
The winning numbers were 04-08-09-23-27-35. The winner must match all six numbers exactly as shown to win the prize and must have the original ticket.
The prize will expire on Monday, June 25, 2012. The winner must contact the Lottery's Public Relations Division at 517-373-1237 to set up an appointment to claim the prize. The prize must be claimed by 4 p.m. on the expiration date.
Classic Lotto 47 tickets and all other terminal-based tickets are valid one year from the draw date. If the prize goes unclaimed, the money will be deposited into the state School Aid Fund, which is the beneficiary of all Lottery profits. In 2011, $23.9 million went unclaimed
