BRIGHTON, Mich. – An accidental shooting at a local gun range leaves one teen dead.

Sources tell Local 4 a teen accidentally shot and killed his friend while they were illegally on the property of the Livingston County Conservation Club in Brighton Saturday afternoon.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department, four teens were on the property when the 19 year olds automatic weapon became jammed. He tried to fix the problem, but the gun went off, striking a 19-year-old Howell male in the head.

The two other members of the group, another 19-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were not in the area when the shooting took place.

The 19-year-old could face several charges included negligent homicide and trespassing.

An investigation is underway.
