Attorney Richard Bernstein, perhaps best known for the TV advertisements for his father's law firm, has been seriously hurt after being hit by a bicyclist in New York City.
The accident happened Monday afternoon in New York City's Central Park.

Bernstein, who is blind, was struck from behind by a bicyclist as he walked in the park's pedestrian lane.
"All of the most meaningful things that have happened to me in my life, thanks to athletics, which is my entire part of life, which is who I am: All of those things have happened in Central Park," said Bernstein.
While walking in a pedestrian lane, he was suddenly hit from behind by a cyclist.
"I didn't know what happened, but the bicyclist hit me and he was going about 35 miles an hour," said Bernstein.
He is currently being treated at New York's Mt. Sinai Hospital for a broken left hip, facial cuts and severe injuries to his mouth. Bernstein is expected to undergo extensive dental work.
"It's going to be a long process unfortunately," said Bernstein. "What if this had been a baby carriage that had gotten hit? What if this had been a stroller?"
His family was at his bedside Wednesday morning.

"Thank you everyone for the kind words, thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes. I cannot begin to express how much it means to me. Unfortunately, as many may have heard, I was struck from behind yesterday morning by a bicyclist while out walking in Central Park. According to police, the bicyclist was traveling at approximately 35mph and even though I was walking in the pedestrian pathway and wearing bright colors I was still injured. Although I'm concerned about my fractured pelvis, hip, and the additional injuries sustained to my face and body, I'm even more concerned about the future of pedestrian safety. I've had the pleasure to work on cases regarding roundabout safety and the repercussions of the "Open and Obvious" doctrine, but it is apparent that the fight is not over and continual attention needs to be directed toward this issue."
