DETROIT – Three men charged with carjacking of Detroit pastor and gospel singing icon Marvin Winans were sentenced Thursday.
Detroit residents Montoya Givens and Christopher Moorehead, both 20, and Brian K. Young, 18, of Macomb County's Clinton Township are charged in the case.

Young apologized to Winans family and his own family for the stress he had caused them.
"I was raised better than this," he said.
He was sentenced to five to 20 years on a conspiracy to commit carjacking charge and five to 20 years on a robbery charge. His sentences will be served concurrently.

Moorehead was sentenced to four to 20 years on a carjacking charge and four to 15 years on a robbery charge. He will get credit for 174 days already served and his sentences will be concurrent.
Givens was sentenced to six to 20 years on a carjacking charge and five to 15 years on a robbery charge -- to be served concurrently.
Winans attacked while getting gas
Winans, 54, was attacked May 16 while pumping gas in Detroit. The robbers took his sport utility vehicle, Rolex watch, cash and credit cards.

Winans sustained bruises and scrapes and was treated at a hospital and released. He is pastor of the 4,500-member Perfecting Church and delivered singer Whitney Houston's eulogy in February. "I'm just saddened that it has come to this," Winans said shortly after the attack. "This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It's just the savageness of what's happening in the street."
