A University of Arizona student is sparking outrage after standing on campus holding a sign that read "You deserve rape."

Dean Saxton, known as "Brother Dean" on campus, regularly demonstrates on campus holding Christian-themed signs but appeared to cross the line earlier this week.

Several onlookers, both male and female, confronted Saxton and some complained to the Dean of Students Office.

Campus police pulled Saxton aside at one point, but university officials said he hasn't violated the student conduct code and has the right to free speech.

"I think that girls that dress and act like it, they should realize that they do have partial responsibility, because I believe that they're pretty much asking for (rape)," Saxton, wearing a shirt that read "Virgin Pride," told the Daily Wildcat campus newspaper.

His "sermon" came ahead of a "Take Back the Night" event Tuesday night, which aims to unite people against sexual violence.

April is also Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
