The man believed to be connected to - but not charged with - the murders of a mother and daughter in Clinton Township was sentenced to a year of probation and timed served (91 days).

The sentence for Jay Thomas Miller was handed down on charges of resisting and obstructing a police officer.

Many people who knew the two told Local 4 the mother and daughter were inseparable and loved by all.

"You'd see them everyday, walking to the store. They'd speak to us. We'd give them loose change," said neighbor Maurice Williams.

They had no car and walked everywhere, neighbors say. The highlight of their day was walking up to the nearby 7-Eleven for a grape Slurpee.

"Something as simple as going to 7-Eleven to buy a Slurpee, that made her day," said Williams.

Nobody has been charged with their murders.
