DETROIT โ A fundraising campaign is being launched to "Save the Steeple" of St. Josaphat's Roman Catholic Church in Detroit.
Parish Council President Kevin Piotrowski told Local 4 Monday several calls had been coming in from people wanting to repair a steeple that buckled during a windstorm in mid-November.
Piotrowski said the church's organized campaign kicks off Tuesday.
The storm poked at least two holes in the steeple and tore loose many shingles.
The steeple was capped, but the damage rendered the church unsafe and services have since been moved to St. Joseph's Church.

The church at 1828 Jay St. has stood for 112 years and is known for its familiar trio of steeples that have symmetry with the Renaissance Center.
