From old brands to new brands, not all car brands have survived the test of time. Take a look at some of the more memorable car brands that no longer exist.
DeLorean: The DeLorean Motor Company was around from 1975-1982. During its time it made only one – although very unique – model of car. The DeLorean had a futuristic look to it and featured gull-wing doors.
Maybach: In 2011, Daimler AG announced the Maybach would be discontinued. These luxury concept cars were once popular, but sales dwindled in recent years.
Mercury Cougar: The Mercury Cougar was a model produced by the Ford Motor Company from 1967 to 2002. It was offered in a hardtop and convertible, and its early models resembled the Ford Mustang.
Oldsmobile: The Oldsmobile brand, that was part of the General Motors family, was produced from 1897 until 2004. When it closed down its production, Oldsmobile was one of the oldest car brands in the world. Some of its top models included the Starfire, Toronado and the Aurora V8.
Pontiac Firebird: The Firebird was produced by Pontiac from 1967 to 2003. Its early models resembled the Camaro, and it was available in hardtop and convertible.
