New Cedar Point ride closer to completion

One of the newest rides at Cedar Point is a few more steps to being finished.

The amusement park on Wednesday released pictures of crews assembling the 15,000-pound gondola for the "Pipe Scream" ride.

Riders will spin and coast over 302 feet of track, reaching a maximum height of 43 feet above the midway and a top speed of 43 mph.

The ride will begin operating this summer.

Cedar Point is also debuting the new Lake Erie Eagles and SlingShot rides, a multitude of new food choices, a refreshed Camp Snoopy kids' area, new cabins and live shows. 

Cedar Point opens to the general public for the 2014 season on May 10.
