Wellspring says its focus is on shelter, nutrition and stability for these children while Wellspring and Lutheran Social Services of Michigan work with immigration on each child's case.

Here is the organization's official statement:

"In its deliberation, the Board of Directors of Wellspring Lutheran Services recognized that this is a complex, multi-faceted issue with its roots in U.S. immigration policy, current politics, economic challenges of our times and a myriad of other contributors. But Wellspring's focus is on these children, who are in need of care, love, stability while government officials manage each particular case."
