BELLEVILLE, Mich. – Classes have been canceled at the Van Buren school district after a fire at the bus yard.
The fire at a maintenance garage near Davis and South roads broke out about 4 a.m. Thursday.
"When we got here it was coming through the roof. There were some explosions going on inside the building so we took a defensive attack. Right now, we have the building under control, we're just putting out hot spots," said Belleville Fire Chief Brian Loranger.
Loranger said some vehicles, including a dump truck, propane tanks and gasoline in the garage helped propel the fire, but no one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
