DETROIT – In a 6-2 vote Tuesday, the Detroit City Council selected Janee' Ayers as its newest member.
Ayers fills the vacancy left by Saunteel Jenkins, who resigned last year to take a job at a non profit.

The City Council had 135 applicants for the position and narrowed it down to two: Ayers and Debra Walker.
