Police: 1 killed, 1 hurt in attempted robbery shooting in Detroit

Shooting happened Tuesday morning on Beaconsfield Street

DETROIT – Detroit police said one man has been killed and another injured in an early-morning shooting Tuesday on the city's east side.

Police said the men and two women were outside a home in the 11000 block of Beaconsfield Street at 3:30 a.m. when they were approached by two masked men who tried to rob them.

Police said one of the masked men shot a 21-year-old man and a 38-year-old man in the group.

The two women in the group were not hurt.

The 21-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The 38-year-old, identified by family as Chauncey Jarrett, died.

Police said the attempted robbers fled on foot. No detailed descriptions of them have been released, except that they were wearing masks and dark clothing.
