Bomb threat closes Grosse Pointe North school for Thursday morning

GROSSE POINTE, Mich. – Grosse Pointe North administration has been made aware of an anonymous bomb threat that specifically identifies a bomb being set off at North on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Physical searches of the building and bomb sniffing dogs will be used throughout the night and into Thursday morning to ensure the safety of all students and staff at North.

Despite the safety measures listed above, there is no sure way to search each person entering the building Thursday morning. The Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Department has recommended that Grosse Pointe North be closed to students and staff until the time of the threat passes.

School is cancelled for Thursday morning. Lunch will not be served.

The building will reopen for staff and students at noon, with 5th hour starting at 12:24 p.m. All afternoon and evening activities including performances and athletics will occur as planned.

The safety and well-being of students and staff is the basis behind this decision. If this situation develops or changes, the school will contact families via email and/or phone calls.
